How to write perfect cover letter on Upwork

Many freelancers are struggling to get client’s attention on their cover letter. Here are some tips you can use to draw attention from clients on each of your cover letter.

Do’s:

  1. Start with just “Hi” and mention client name if given in job description.
  2. Write customized cover letter for each job type by answering what they ask.
  3.  Give reply on each thing client asked.
  4. If clients mentioned he need single freelancer just write whole cover letter as “I”, don’t mention “We” any where in cover letter.
  5. After answering all questions he asked and reply on whatever specified in job description mention that you can discuss more in details.
  6. For any client looking to get help on making any website or any design but didn’t provide any clear specification then you can post your own examples from your portfolio.





Dont’s:

  1. Don’t use any template for cover letter. stick to basics.
  2. Don’t ignore questions client asked in his job description.
  3. Don’t start cover letter with “Dear Hiring Manager” .
  4. Don’t specify anything what client didn’t ask.
  5. Don’t flood the cover letter with huge info about your company or agency. this comes later when client replies to your proposal and ask starts any chat for discussion.

We are looking for an experienced Web Designer to design great looking Home page.

Our customers are retail customers delivering eye-catching, intuitive, and engaging customer experiences.

Requirements
-Have 3-5 years design experience
-Must be creative, deliver unique concepts

Output file(s) required:
– PSD (Arranged in folders so it will easy for our developer)
– Fonts

This Job will be payed in 3 steps
1. Sketch
2. revisions
3. Final design

Example cover letter:

Hi, I have 4 years of experience doing PSD design work. I agree that working with different steps is a good option and can start with an initial sketch and you will only need to continue the project if you are satisfied with this. I past experience working on retail design projects and would be happy to share my portfolio with you.
